'two days before' thursday

I LOVE this – Thanks Maria – I know I’ve read this countless times during my teaching/studies … and still love it … couldn’t have said it better myself.
It is no accident that some children are good at reading and writing and others are not, that some find joy in this work and for others it is tedious. The preparation for enjoying the exploration of language in life begins before birth as the child responds to the voices he hears even in the womb.
For success in language a child needs confidence that what she has to say is important, a desire to relate to others, real experience on which language is based, and the physical abilities necessary in reading and writing. There are several things that we can do to help.
We can listen and talk to the child from birth on, not in baby talk, but with respect and with a rich vocabulary. We can provide a stimulating environment, rich in sensorial experiences and in language, providing a wealth of experience, because language is meaningless if it is not based on experience. We can set an example and model precise language in our everyday activities with the child. If we share good literature, in the form of rhymes, songs, poetry and stories we will greatly increase the child's love of language.

Tid bits from the homefront:

Last evening Amy and I finished the HUGE tulle wreath to go on the barn for the dreamy wedding … I was a bit nervous about it – it is so big it was difficult to picture outside of my head … came out great – loving it. I am excited to share photos of all of the dreamy stuff after the big day – Saturday. A few more things to do this evening … tomorrow night is the rehearsal/dinner [can’t wait to see everyone] … feeling pretty relaxed and ready for the DAY.

Fundraiser – The Humane Society
I have been making leashes [crocheted, soft, perfect for a comfy walk with your pet] and during May, June, and July, I am donating $5 from the sale of each leash to local [non-kill] animal shelters. Please check out the photos … let me know if you would like to order one … special orders accepted. Prices range from $12 - $22 [depending on how fancy they are]. Lengths range between 4 and 7 feet … all are about 1 ½ inches wide. I will be putting a few more leashes up in my Etsy Shop today – also, you can comment here or email me [cpatriciaa@aol.com]. I hope to end this school year with a fabulous fundraiser. Thanks for your help/support.
Thank you thank you to everyone who has purchased so far … sold three this morning – yeah – let’s try to make it to 100 this month – that will be $500. to the Humane Society – good starting goal …

Garden Fun:
I was so happy that almost all of my seeds sprouted to [what look to be] healthy plants … all except my green pepper seeds. I think I will purchase a couple of pepper plants in the next few days.
Babbling … more like Ranting today … Why do we want to see photographs of a dead person? Why is this such a controversy? I imagine it is just [yet] another reason for those against our president to have more to spew about … I don’t have time for this kind of shit. I’ve realized lately that maybe the negative [dark] energy has helped the economy of this country go to hell in a hand basket … many people have far too much [non-working] time on their hands, for judgment and hate … what purpose does that serve? What goals [successes] could it possibly accomplish? Lost on me.
The Montessori way of education …
If I hear it … I will forget it.
If I see it … I will remember it.
If I live it … it will become a part of me.
works for all aspects of life …
I am not too sure how much blogging time I will have over the next few days … please send me a comment … I so love those. Enjoy – Enjoy!
Until tomorrow xo
