Summer-like Saturday

I will speak ill of no man,
and speak all the good I know of everybody.
                                          -  Benjamin Franklin

This early Spring thing is making me extremely happy. I am filled with ‘let’s do it’ energy. I so love that.

Jacob and I have begun working on the herb wall [fence] – a few planted and ready to go … with a blanket close by, just in case winter decides to raise its ugly head again … hoping that won’t happen.

Busy day here – getting ready for tomorrow … I am so looking forward to having my home filled with friends – anxious to see what they think of the new wearable art store space …

The Japanese Maple that Taylor gave me for my birthday last year is sprouting new leaves … I was so concerned, as Lewis dug it up a few weeks ago and I wasn’t sure if it lived through the shock. A friend of mine [positive Cherie – love it] reminded me this morning that just maybe the shock from Lewis is what helped it to start growing again. I’m so happy it is growing …

Too busy to write much today … I sent queries to hopefully find a literary agent – hope hope – any advice/guidance would be appreciated …
I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful weekend. xxoo

If you are in the area … Please stop by
I’m so excited with the prospect of Spring arriving soon, I am having an Open House/Winter wearable art sale – Sunday, March 18th  2-4 pm at my home. Fifty percent off all winter wearable art … and beautiful earrings, cluster necklaces, and more … I look forward to seeing everyone.

Until tomorrow xo

Monday ... my favorite day

March 12, 2012
A society grows great when old men plant trees
whose shade they know they shall never sit in.

When the time change happens, my inside clock usually takes awhile to catch up. This morning, instead of waking at five, I woke at four … I think my inside clock is majorly overcompensating here …  I’ve only recently become a morning person – and four a.m. is a bit ridiculous …

After working with the lovely teachers and beauteous children at The Lake Norman Learning Center since September, together we have decided for Academic Illumination Day School and The Lake Norman Learning Center to join together on a journey to offer a nurturing academic/life environment to children/families of pre-school age students through grade five. I am so excited.

The first ‘thing’ that I knew needed to be placed on the wall of my new classroom is a sign I have had hanging in my classrooms since 1987 … I am thinking of reproducing it … I would love to see it hanging everywhere.

This weekend was a very productive and fun one. The weather was so perfect I was filled with energy to get yard stuff accomplished. Painted, planted, and spruced things up a bit … can’t wait to see everything blooming soon. Brad lit the fire pit – so, the Christmas tree is finally gone. I was getting tired of seeing it out there – though am a tad [more than a tad] nervous of firing up the pit myself. Beautiful Fire.
And the pups seemed to enjoy the refreshed patio today ...

I have been following a blog written by an amazing woman [I do not personally know her – though feel as though I do] … honest, raw, real, inspirational …

One more cool thing to share - if you haven't checked out kindovermatter.com, please do - coolest things they do ...

I hope everyone had a great weekend … I loved spending the evening with Angie …

the day after super tuesday

Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place, your bright gaze will kindle this old shadow world to blaze once again with the fire of faith.    Rumi

Another spring-like day …  so loving this. Getting ready to start more seeds sprouting. It is still too early to have anything [completely] outside, so I made a space in the laundry room to hold all of the little pots when [I’d like to say if, though that is not realistic] the temp drops below 40 degrees. Let the Spring growing begin …

Sunday night I was checking out Oprah’s network, and watched an amazing piece/interview with Paula Dean. What a fabulous person … if you can catch it – definitely worth the watch.

Another little tid-bit that someone sent me – thought it was so worth sharing … hope everyone is having a superb week. Enjoy!

Until tomorrow xo

I love Mondays

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”   Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well, it is still pretty cold for my taste, though we have had a good winter so far – not too many days when I felt like screaming [I’m such a cold weather wimp] – and during the past week I have felt spring in the air. I’m emerging from my winter ‘hermitness’ and getting ready for planting season. Pulling and killing weeds – preparing the gardens – hoping the semi-warm weather continues. Rather than using yucky poisons, try straight white vinegar [in a spray bottle] for weeds – it is working really well for me.

Three types of tomato seeds are in their little pots – and the rest of my seeds are ready for sprouting. I am excited to have my yard/gardens filled with beauty again.

A few fun signs of spring … even my fish are jumping around, looking for food and attention …

My friend, Max, sent me this photo – a very cool way to grow herbs … I am definitely going to try this – I think lettuce and spinach may grow nicely in 2-liter bottles … I’ll share the process and let you know how it is going. Only problem – I don’t drink soda – need to start collecting bottles from friends, I guess …

I’ve spent quite a few months staying away from the news. Must admit that my spirit feels much better without all of the negative stuff; though my love for politics has me back watching a bit again. Someone sent this to me – quite awhile ago – thought it was worth sharing …

Better get ready for work. Hoping to continue getting up early in the morning … and writing/blogging before work.
Have a great day!
Until tomorrow xo
